About Child and Family Haven
Child and Family Haven exists to support children, young people, families and carers with clear guidance, compassion and a genuine focus on wellbeing.
Who We Are
Child & Family Haven Ltd, trading as Child and Family Haven, is a UK organisation focused on supporting children, young people, families and carers. We provide information, guidance and support around fostering, alongside a wider commitment to helping families understand the options available to them.
Our registered office is at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ. Every conversation we have, whether with a family, a prospective foster carer or a young person, is grounded in the same principle: that people deserve honest, clear and compassionate support, particularly when navigating an unfamiliar or difficult situation.
We do not claim to have every answer, and fostering itself is a process shaped by individual circumstances and the requirements that apply to each situation. What we can offer is a genuine starting point: a place to ask questions, understand your options and take the next step at your own pace.
Our Approach
We approach our work with children, families and carers through listening first and advising second.
Every family and every child is different, so we try to avoid one-size-fits-all answers. Instead, we take time to understand individual circumstances before offering guidance, whether that is about the fostering journey, the types of support available, or simply where to find further information.
We recognise that decisions involving children and families can be significant and, at times, difficult. Our approach is to make sure people feel informed, respected and supported throughout, rather than rushed towards any particular outcome.
Our Values
Five principles run through everything Child and Family Haven does.
Child-Centred
The needs and voice of the child guide every decision we support.
Compassion
We approach every conversation with warmth, patience and understanding.
Respect
We value every individual's background, identity and circumstances.
Safety
Safeguarding sits at the centre of everything we do.
Partnership
We work alongside families, carers and professionals as a team.
Putting Children First
Whatever the context, whether a conversation about fostering or support for a family, our starting point is always the wellbeing of the children and young people involved. That means thinking about their safety, their sense of stability and their right to be heard.
We also recognise that children and young people are individuals with their own personalities, interests and hopes for the future. Supporting them well means paying attention to who they are, not only to the circumstances that brought them into contact with us.
Working With Families and Carers
Families and carers are central to everything we do. We aim to give families clear information about the support available to them and to help prospective carers understand what fostering genuinely involves, including the commitment it requires.
For carers, this means honest conversations about expectations, guidance through each stage of the process, and a commitment to keeping communication open. For families, it means listening carefully to individual circumstances and helping people understand the options relevant to them.
If you would like to know more about how we could support you, your family, or your interest in fostering, we would welcome the opportunity to talk.
